µCAN-BOX Family - Reliability in Challenging Environments

Analogue/digital conversion on the spot will bring advantages

The I/O modules of our µCAN-BOX family provide the link for digital and analogue I/O signal networking on a CAN bus. The premium electronics of our µCAN modules facilitates connection of a wide range of sensors and actuators.

 

Due to their robust design the modules may be installed directly at the signal source, installation of an additional switching cabinet is not necessary. The CAN bus transmits digitized data which reduces costs for installation of control and signal wires and increases data security.

Harshest environments - no problem

From construction machinery to agricultural vehicles or renewable energy - the µCAN-BOX modules are used in extreme conditions where reliable sensor and actuator technology is required. Typical applications are:

 

  • construction cranes and road construction machinery
  • off-road and heavy-duty vehicles
  • tractors and combine harvesters
  • wind and solar power plants

Improved features

The electronic system of the µCAN-BOX series is tightly packed in a rugged aluminium casing (protection class IP66) protecting it reliably from dust and water. Signal wires may be connected via metric cable glands or M12 plug-in connectors.

 

All modules are equipped with a high-speed CAN interface which supports both CAN 2.0A and CAN 2.0B, thus supporting the layer 7 protocols CANopen, J1939 and a multitude of vendor-specific variants. Module address and bit rate are set via slide switch or CAN bus.

 

The light tube in the cover of the casing indicates the module state. For use in mobile applications, the electrical features are specified within a temperature range from -40°C to +85°C.

Connectivity

Using the µCAN-BOX series you may cross-connect a multitude of sensors and actuators via the CAN bus.

 

  • Analogue inputs (0..20 mA, 0..10 V)
  • Analogue outputs (0..20 mA, 0..10 V)
  • Sensor inputs (Pt100 .. Pt1000, thermocouples, strain gauges)
  • Digital inputs
  • Digital outputs
  • PWM outputs
  • Fast counter and frequency measurement

 

 

Easy diagnosis

All modules of the µCAN-BOX series feature easy diagnostics of the CAN state via two LEDs in the device. Watch the following video for more information.
