Home 9 Portfolio 9 I/O Modules 9 SPS-2025

Product Launch –
SPS 2025

From 25 to 27 November 2025, MicroControl will showcase the next generation of its compact analogue input modules at the SPS – Smart Production Solutions in Nuremberg.

Meet the team in hall 5 – 420, and discover the new µCAN.4.ai-BOX for voltage/current, µCAN.4.sg-BOX for strain-gauge and µCAN.4.ti-BOX for temperature signal data.

New Measurement Technology

The new µCAN-BOX generation features low-noise 24-bit A/D converters, and all variants are available in two- or four-converter configurations. Like the previous product versions, the two-converter option is particularly cost-effective – there is only a minimal phase shift between each pair of channels. The four-converter option operates in a fully channel‑synchronised way, with no phase shift between channels. Across all versions, the analogue inputs are galvanically isolated from the power supply, improving immunity to interference and delivering reproducible precise measurements.

New CAN Protocols

Each µCAN-BOX module provides a galvanically isolated CAN bus interface supporting Classic CAN and CAN FD. This standard fieldbus interface can run different protocols without hardware changes. Supported protocols include CANopen (CiA 301), CANopen FD (CiA 1301), SAE J1939 as well as vendor-specific raw‑CAN communication. Module address and bit rate can be set via DIP switches or directly over the CAN bus, facilitating fast, reliable system set up.

Proven Quality

Designed for demanding field applications, the µCAN‑BOX series withstands harsh environmental conditions. The tightly sealed aluminium enclosure is IP66 rated — dust‑tight and protected against powerful water jets — while the inside electronics is designed to work reliably in an ambient temperature range from -40 °C to +85 °C. In the standard version, the modules are offered with metric cable glands; M12 connectors or customer‑specific options are available as well.

EU-Cyber Resiliance Act (CRA)

With regard to the EU‑Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), we rely on a secure boot chain: The bootloader only accepts cryptographically signed firmware and verifies integrity and authenticity before execution and before each update. This protects the update path against manipulation and maintains the chain of trust from start to application. The CRA has been in force since December 10, 2024; the main obligations, however, apply from December 11, 2027, and reporting obligations, including for actively exploited vulnerabilities, apply from September 11, 2026.

Applications and Benefits

The µCAN.4.ai‑BOX is ideal for precise voltage and current measurements in test benches and process automation. The µCAN.4.sg‑BOX is designed for strain‑gauge applications and addresses demanding tasks in machinery and plant engineering. The µCAN.4.ti‑BOX focuses on high‑precision temperature acquisition with RTDs and thermocouples—suited to energy, process, and building technology. All variants feature high measurement resolution, stable synchronization, and a robust, industry‑ready design.
